With Outstretched Arms

With Outstretched Arms

by Lauren Taub Cohen

The frosty sea glass air

scatters my words

like dainty dandelion seeds

taken flight by the might

of their wispy wings.

I have no idea

how far they will travel,

where they will land,

or if any,

will take root.

My job is simply

to write

without constraints

or concerns

for future results.

I find freedom

in not knowing –

permission to enjoy

the creative process

and the courage

to wade into

this mystery

that has already

begun to guide me

beyond

what I thought

possible.
