Wander to Awaken
by Lauren Taub Cohen
Tolkien famously wrote,
“Not all those who wander
are lost.”
He almost got it right.
As a wanderer
I crave the
unfamiliar
which elicits
an aliveness
in me
akin to
rhapsodic wonder
and
alerts me
to the restive call
of possibilities.
I am only lost
when stagnant
and my remedy
for such a stuck state
is always…
to wander.
To wander is to learn,
to learn is to discover,
to discover is to
awaken to one’s
unforeseen potential.
I say, “ A wanderer
is never lost, and
there is no such thing
as making
a wrong turn.”
