I started this poem back in August but only recently completed it. I had come across the following quote from Nietzsche in the book Round Ireland With A Fridge by Tony Hawks - "Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved." And, yes, the book is as hysterical as it sounds. I promise my next post will speak to the obstacles we encounter when we try to cultivate a sense of ease or joy. In the meantime, the child in me was so relieved to have finally finished this mini-poem that this took precedence. Stay tuned!
Silent Teachings
by Lauren Taub Cohen
Drifting listlessly upon a float,
I marvel at the midnight sky -
a bewildering expanse
bejeweled with starry secrets.
And I have the sense
this is what it feels like
to accept and allow
rather than resist and control.
