I think this poem, along with "Passing the Tests," is one of my favorites. I wrote "Leaving Doubt Behind" after hearing some good news and dancing my heart out to New Order's (Live) "Temptation." Enjoy!

Leaving Doubt Behind

by Lauren Taub Cohen

I am riding bareback

upon unharnessed joy

and we tear towards

a cluster of constellations

calling out my name.

Bulky layers of assumptions

and fraying threads of certainty

unravel in the billowing wind

and leave me bereft

of who I used to be.

Completely disrobed

and entirely

unencumbered

I charge

into the unknown

with unapologetic

lust

for life.
